Activities to enjoy in your holidays in Mallorca
Located next to the protected part of the bay, Puerto de Pollensa is a charming fishing village which receives thousands of visitors every year, attracted by its magnificent beaches of fine sand and crystal-clear waters that offer the possibility to enjoy the sun and the sea in a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. A town that still keeps alive its essence but has managed to keep pace with the new times, offering a very dynamic atmosphere. In addition to monuments and historic sites as emblematic as the Roman Bridge, the Templar church, the baroque convent or the hermitage surrounded by cypresses with stunning views, you cannot miss the opportunity to have a coffee in the famous Can Moixet or to savour an authentic artisan ice-cream in the Valls ice-cream parlour.
To all this, you can add a wide range of apartments and hotels, amongst which Hotel Miramar stands out, and then you will be able to enjoy an unforgettable holiday in a truly privileged environment.
Trips through the beautiful villages of the area
One of the biggest attractions of this area in Mallorca are the towns which surround it. Puerto de Pollensa is located just 7 km from Pollensa. The lively atmosphere of the bars and restaurants which extend from Colón Street to the Yacht Club, the pines which, many times, almost touch the sea with their branches, its spectacular sunsets and its wide range of leisure activities, will make any traveller who decides to visit the area inevitably fall in love with it.
For its part, Formentor is the area which offers, undoubtedly, the most beautiful and fascinating landscape in the region. It is worth visiting just to have the opportunity to contemplate the beautiful views of the infinite blue of the sea from the lighthouse, which is accessed through a road, full of mountains and pine forests, which surrounds the coast. But also, if you travel as a couple, you can enjoy romantic coves such as Bóquer, Murta or Figuera, and contemplate the flight of the many birds that inhabit their natural landscapes. And, for the most adventurous, the area offers the possibility to enjoy, for example, hiking, cycling routes or a kayak tour.
Cala San Vicente, the favourite place of many painters for its incredible natural beauty, is also worth the visit. It is very popular amongst those travellers looking for a quiet sun and a beach holiday. Composed by the coves of Barques, Molins, Clara and Carbó, which are protected by the imposing mountains of the Cavall Bernat, you will discover a true dream of turquoise waters for lovers of both bathing and diving. If you enjoy cultural visits, do not forget to also see the l’Alzinaret caves.
Mallorca has no less than 1,250 kilometres of roads, of which more than half are goat paths and secondary roads which run between flat areas or mountains, connecting the different towns of the island. For this reason, it is very popular amongst cycling route fans, and even amongst professional competition teams, both national and European. This is due to its great variety of terrains, its climatic conditions and the wide variety of services related to this activity.
The climate and the great variety of landscapes make the island meet the ideal conditions for the practice of Nordic walking, a very healthy sport activity suitable for people of all ages. It consists on walking with poles through nature. If you have never practised it, you can take a course to learn how to perform the movements properly and take advantage of all its benefits. Although it is advisable to avoid it when temperatures are high, it is an activity which can be enjoyed all year round.
Mallorca has no less than 23 golf courses and, thanks to the short distances of the island, fans can enjoy whatever they want in a short time. The facilities of its fields include modern services and are totally respectful of the environment. Some of the best ones are the Real Golf Bendinat, the Son Servera Golf Club, the Son Vida Golf Club, the Maioris Golf, the Alcanada Golf, the Santa Ponsa Golf, and the Puntiró Golf Park.
