Alcanada Golf Club: one of the best courses in Spain
Mallorca has no less than 23 golf courses scattered throughout the island, which gives enthusiasts the opportunity to visit different courses, all just a short distance apart, and enjoy variety without wasting any time. Furthermore, its privileged climate, with an average of 19ºC throughout the year, allows visitors to play their favourite sport at any time of the year. In addition, state of the art services are offered by the island’s golf facilities, which were designed fully respecting the natural environment and with regulations that are applied on all the courses to guarantee that they comply with the necessary quality standards.
Therefore, it is not unusual that every year, thousands of tourists from the United Kingdom and Germany come to the island to practice golf. The fact is, a great variety of golf courses in which you can play 365 days a year, even when the courses of almost the entire continent are covered by snow, are just two hours away by plane.

Today we want to recommend the Alcanada Golf Club, located only 15 km from Hotel Miramar, right on the seafront. Opened in 2003, this 18-hole course has an area of 6,500 square metres in which the green of the course blends perfectly with the typical Mallorcan vegetation. It seems like all the facilities and buildings are part of a landscape painting. A course that offers spectacular views of the sea and is surrounded by lush olive and pine groves. Its truly impeccable upkeep and greens that were renovated in 2008 offer great quality and exceptional speed.
Although it is a relatively new course, little by little it has been gaining a foothold in the world of golf throughout the continent, being recognized by a significant number of magazines and golf guides as one of the best fields, both nationally and internationally. It has received recognition as Number 1 in Europe for the 7th consecutive year by the www.1golf.eu website and 10th in Spain in the Golfer’s Choice 2017 by the website www.leadingcourses.com.
It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the prestigious American designer, son of the legendary golf course designer Robert Trent Jones, and brother of another great designer, Rees Jones. Since the 60s, he has designed and remodelled more than 250 golf courses, and the Alcanada Golf Club, which he designed on behalf of the owner Hans Peter Porsche at the end of the 90s, is one of his masterpieces. The typical hazards that appear in many of the family’s designs, the difficult greens with hidden breaks and the challenging tee shots, make it one of the highest-rated courses for those more experienced players travelling to the island for their holidays.

In Hotel Miramar we already have the special prices of the season for guests staying at our establishment.
You can pay your green fee on the spot at the hotel reception, or book it in advance through the website. You can get to the golf course by taxi, and the fare is approximately 15 euros per trip.
But besides offering a very exciting course, the Alcanada Golf Club also has other facilities and services providing visitors with everything they need.
- Pro shop: a stylish golf clothing store located in a building over four centuries old, with stone walls and of a typical Mallorcan style. With an area of 150 metres and architectural elements that are reminiscent of a wine cellar. Inside, the golfer can find everything necessary for the game, such as clothes, clubs, balls, gloves, hats, caps, tees, markers, spikes, golf shoes, tee punches and postcards.
- Restaurant: a place that offers the player a very relaxing atmosphere for after the game. With a service that stands out for its professionalism and menus capable of satisfying the demands of even the most demanding palates. It boasts of a magnificent terrace that enjoys wonderful views of the golf course and the Bay of Alcúdia.
- Golf School: run by Pro John Verhappen, this golf school offers training courses and custom classes, including club fittings, as well as specific classes, regulations, etiquette, etc. Lessons are given both individually and in groups, and in different languages, such as Spanish, German, English, French and Dutch.
